Having worked hard to get my PGCE after university, I quickly realised that teaching wasn’t for me! So I joined Venn Group as a consultant on their temporary legal desk and spent a successful two years working with largely public sector clients.
I’m now at Gemini Search, where I focus on placing freelance project managers in advertising agencies. My key achievements include hitting £300k in my first 12 months here and being the first consultant to reach our incentive target for the year. I love filling jobs and I get huge satisfaction from matching candidates with clients. But now that I’ve recruited and am training my own new resourcer, I see myself taking a more managerial route. It’s just so rewarding to mentor someone in your team, share their various ‘firsts’ and watch their careers grow.I’ve loved being part of Gemini’s journey so far and hope to one day join the senior management team here.

I have been in the recruitment industry for over 15 years, with the majority of my career being spent working for Eames Consulting Group. I joined them at inception and developed a scalable operating module that saw the business grow year on year.
I am now the Operations Director for Voyage Global Energy and my primary remit is the evolution of ‘People’ and ‘Process’ and achieving ‘Operational Excellence’ through Culture, Brand, Values, Vision Alignment, Leadership, Best Practice, Technology, Knowledge, Relationships and Delivery. I work closely with founder and President Simon Fellowes, which is proving to be a very strong partnership. I like to think of myself as the Ying to Simon’s Yang and love working in a business where people are at the heart of what we do and who we are. One of the highlights since joining the business in February 2013 was my nomination at the 2013 HB Annual Awards for Best Newcomer.

I started my recruitment career in the medical field with ID Medical. I embraced the challenge learning the essential skills within a relatively short period of time, enabling me to climb up the hierarchy in record time. During my time with ID Medical I established strong networks within the sector, which eventually lead to my introduction to DRC Locums.
Since joining DRC, I have been able to really grow my team and my own division. From a team of 4 experienced recruitment consultants to a team of 26 today, we now lead the nursing division for DRC which now stands as the largest department within DRC Locums in both head count and gross margin. This journey has been made all the more enjoyable as I have been able to experience it with my entire team. DRC offered me a great opportunity of which I fully intend to develop further. I envision the next chapter in my career bringing further growth both personally and in my professional career.

Meet our Investment Experts who work directly with the management teams in our portfolio
The Directors’ Forum brings together management teams from across the group to coach them to leadership. These Director sessions cover everything from; attracting talent, how to build upon successful client strategies and how to effectively manage divisional leads. Occasionally, some Directors are also personally mentored by our Recruitment experts, or the CEOs of other businesses from the portfolio. As a result, several of the businesses work together on joint campaigns, coaching and development strategies.
In 2014, HB launched the Future Leaders programme to recognise, inspire and mentor the top performing consultants in the group to fast-track their progression. The programme is a series of quarterly forums that bring together the same cohort of individuals to build peer-to-peer learning and provide the opportunity to learn from directly from our most senior individuals across the group. Several of our top consultants aspire to graduate to management and this has been a core part of the programme in 2014.
Every month, HB produces a magazine that recognises key achievements and news from across the group. Additionally, we track the performance of each individual business against eachother for a number of key metrics. CEOs, consultants, Investment Directors and everyone in between closely monitor the tables to see how their businesses perform against the rest of the portfolio. Crucially, these tables provide the stimulus for further shared learning across the group, allowing the management teams to share best practice and successful strategies.
